The average monthly cost of Stiripentol, a European anti-epileptic drug shown to improve seizures in patients with Dravet syndrome, is approximately $1,000 or more. For many families struggling in these difficult economic times, this life-saving medication is simply unobtainable. The IDEA League has set up a fund to help offset the high cost of Stiripentol for families who can not afford it. The IDEA League also places a high priority on research and will be awarding its first research grant to scientists in the spring of 2010.
